Appointments must be booked online. For urgent or emergency situations, please email us at denver@hk-diplo.de. We do not accept phone calls.

Due to an increase in applications, there are currently delays in processing passports. A new biometric passport typically takes 10-12 weeks for normal processing. Express processing takes at least 5 weeks but comes with no guarantee. The fee for express processing is $35. External factors may also influence processing times. A temporary one-year passport may be issued within 2 weeks in urgent cases.

Yes, if you have urgent travel needs, you can apply for both a temporary passport and a

biometric passport at the same time. You can travel with the temporary passport and exchange

it for the biometric passport upon returning to the U.S.

Due to high demand for passport appointments, we ask that you reschedule or cancel your

appointment at least 3 days in advance to free up the slot for other applicants.

If you fail to bring all required documentation, you will need to reschedule your appointment.

Incomplete or inadequate materials will result in us being unable to proceed with your

application.

For ADULTS, complete the passport application form in advance.

For MINORS (UNDER 18) both parents must complete the minor’s application form.

If applying for a MINOR'S PASSPORT, the consent form must be signed by both parents in front of us. If one parent is absent, the consent must be notarized in advance.

Please bring the following original documents and one photocopy of each:

• Two identical biometric passport photos.
• Birth certificate with exact place of birth.
• Marriage certificate, divorce decree, or spouse's death certificate, if applicable.
• Previous passport.
• Valid U.S. residence permit (for non-U.S. citizens).
• Proof of U.S. citizenship or permanent residency for U.S. residents.
• Name declaration documents if the last name differs from your previous passport.
• Proof of current name usage, such as a German birth or marriage certificate.
• U.S. driver's license or utility bill as proof of residence.

For a MINOR'S PASSPORT, please bring the following original documents and one photocopy of each:

• Two identical biometric passport photos.
• Child’s birth certificate (long version).
• Previous passport or child’s passport.
• Parents'; passports and residence permits.
• Parents'; marriage certificate.
• Proof of parents’ current name usage.
• Acknowledgment of paternity if applicable.
• U.S. driver's license or utility bill as proof of residence.

German passport photos have different requirements than U.S. passport photos. It’s

recommended to visit a professional photographer familiar with German standards. Make sure

the photos are resized to match German specifications, and refer to the photo template provided. 

Please bring originals and photocopies of all required documents. Ensure all documents

are prepared in advance to avoid delays or rescheduling.
